Mark Evans Bonds Anthology of Scores good choice
The Mark Evans Bonds’ selection of musical scores in “Anthology of Scores,” Books 1 and 2 are the accompaniment anthology for “A History of Music in Western Culture,” Books 1 and 2. The entire series is a good choice for college/university instructors teaching the history of tonal music in a two-semester set of Music History courses. A companion set of CD’s is also available; however, if expensive textbooks are a concern, most of the music in the text and anthology is easily found on YouTube. I would recommend the entire series: text, anthology and CD set.

Wow… I’m always amazed at how conservative Amazon is with their product descriptions. I ordered this book with my fingers crossed, but it arrived in truly pristine condition, and at a price $35 cheaper than my school bookstore. As for the book itself, it contains detailed scores, albeit with small print, with fairly brief but insightful comments following each piece. The accompanying CD set is extremely expensive, though, so I recommend just finding your own recordings or on YouTube to listen to.

I bought the book for my daughter’s under graduate music course. She did not complain. Delivery was on time and in good condition. The dozen or so music CDs made a great addition to our classical music collection.
