Ananda Kiamsha Madelyn Leeke became a pioneer in the digital universe twenty-seven years ago, when she logged in to the LexisNexis research service as a first-year law student at Howard University School of Law. She was immediately smitten with what the World Wide Web could do. Later, while attending the UN Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China, in 1995, Leeke found herself in an Internet café, where she experienced an interaction that changed her life. Over time, through interactions and conversations both online and in-person, Leeke developed the concept of "digital sisterhood" Embracing this revolutionary concept led to a complete career reinvention that finally allowed her to embrace her enormous creative spirit. She found in her digital sisters true "sheroes" and virtual mentors. Her blogging and social media adventures highlight the lessons she learned in the process, the reasons she launched the Digital Sisterhood Network, and the experiences that caused her to adopt what she terms the "fierce living" commitments. In her memoir, Leeke details her journey, sharing experiences and insights that helped her and her digital sisters use the Internet as a self-discovery tool and identifying leadership archetypes that shaped her role as a social media leader.

@anandaleeke is one of my inspirations who blessed me with her spirit & creative advice at Blogalicious. Her book shares her journey of changing direction in her career and gradually cultivating a career that she loves, while communing, discovering, and collaborating with other creative women who were on similar journeys. Having quit my corporate job almost 5 months ago, her book has been like having a portable creative coach with me to guide me through. The concept of digital sisterhood empowers women to use their voices and connect and create beautiful things. I highly recommend.

A beautiful look into how technology has changed the life of not only Ananda, but women from all over. She has connected with so many amazing ladies in what she calls a digital sisterhood, forged her own digital footprint all over the Internet, and has found her way in her career of being a creative. A ton of excellent resources combined with milestones and events that inspired Ananda to live fiercely, both online and offline. Highly recommended to women everywhere who are bloggers or participate online in any capacity.

Learned a lot about how this young lady grew to become a member of the digital world. She connects her history with practical language that a lay person can learn how one can become attached to the digital world. She is to be commended in her work as she brings to life real life situations while providing the reader an opportunity to examine his or her life Enjoy working on increasing one’s own knowledge of how one can grow digitally.

For those who believe the art of interpersonal communication is steadily being dissolved by addiction to technological devices and the seduction of social media platforms, Digital Sisterhood proves just the opposite! Interpersonal connections are deepening and thriving in the digital world as we learn from the author’s journey. How refreshing to follow the professional and personal growth of the author through meaningful networks, relationships and soul-searching exercises, all due to the surprising connections gifted digitally. Rather than fear the myth of technology being the root of isolation, the reader is lead to the truth of unlimited potential for community through digital communication portals. You will be personally inspired to explore the unlimited opportunities for valuable interpersonal connection and never again perceive the digital world as divisive. As an admitted digital skeptic, I am excited to log on and test drive the many resources for information, business growth and world wide sisterhood all due to the inspiring work of Digital Sisterhood!

Great book. Two thumbs up for Ananda Leeke’s engaging, empowering, and more importantly, challenging work that brings all sisters out of our comfort zone and invites us to embark on a new journey. Digital Sisterhood reaches across generational lines, giving of us ideas on “plugging in” to technology/media of all types. I accept Ms. Leeke’s challenge to become adventurous…. I want to try blogging! .I hope readers will be so turned on by Ananada’s passion for fierce living online that they will want to establish their very own digital footprint and become a member of this empowering sisterhood. By the way, the interactive exercises at the end of each chapter really get you to reflect on your own life.( I especially enjoyed imagining what my grandmother’s digital footprint would have looked like if she had access to the Internet, Smartphone, I Pad and the like.)

I am enjoying the journey through Digital Sisterhood

When I purchased this book, I was not sure what it might offer a digital novice. I simply wanted to support a young woman writer who is headed for great accomplishments. Before I finished Chapter One, I was hooked. This book challenges the reader to find one’s creative self and inspire others to do likewise. Its hi tech insights and intergenerational qualities make it a good read for anyone. It is filled with thought processes, action steps, awesome resources; and it stretches the imagination far beyond the digital world. I look forward to completing it.

This incredibly well organized book can be read from cover-to-cover or by randomly selecting sections. Either approach will guide the reader through an amazing digital journey. Interactive exercises complement the personal social media story of the author. The book provides anecdotal examples that document her digital history with thoughtful reflection and wise suggestions on how the reader can build her own digital sisterhood through social media. This is a wonderful resource that is fun to read.

I can never get enough of women living authentically. Initially I purchased the book out of curiosity, but now I consider myself lucky to have it part of my collection. As a technology geek, I can admit to getting so caught up in the gadgets that I forget to make the human connection. Ananda reminds us of how important that is, especially for women. Those 6 Degress of separation just became 1 degree and an app away from Sisterhood.

I was looking for memoirs by Black women and came across this book. Not only was it a great story about how Ananda came to be the woman she is today as a creative entrepreneur, she also shares ideas about how other women can do the same. As a blogger, this book helped me come up with more ways to expand my brand and really become the entrepreneur/”empowerista” I want to be!
