With incisive and engaging introductions by the editor, Ethics in Practice integrates ethical theory and the discussion of practical moral problems into a text that is ideal for introductory and applied ethics courses.
A fully updated and revised edition of this authoritative anthology of classic and contemporary essays covering a wide range of ethical and moral issuesIntegrates ethical theory with discussions of practical moral problemsProvides coverage of ethical issues on familiar topics such as abortion, free speech and affirmative action and contains an entirely new section on war and terrorismAlso features essays on economic justice, world hunger and international justice, and obligations to the environmentAn excellent companion to LaFollette’s text, The Practice of Ethics (2006)
Affordable text for an intro to ethics sort of course. My only complaints are that the hermeneutics lack diversity. There’s a bit of feminist thinking in it but that’s about as far away as it strays from traditional analytic approaches to moral questions. You’ll want to supplement it with some outside sources, but overall, a good text for the price.

This book made me rethink a lot of my opinions that pertain to Contemporary Moral Issues. The articles presented in the text are very representative of all the different thought approaches of many things that effect our lives.

Had to buy this for my Philosophy class, and it is actually a pretty great book. I can see why the professor wanted us to buy it. Great selection of very famous and informative readings. Gives you a wide range of philosophies.

This book was required as a textbook, otherwise the sheer thickness of it would have scared me off for sure.
It’s a textbook

This is a textbook required for an ethics class I took (shocking, right?). It presents contemporary ethical issues with essays from many different contributors, generally presenting them with an essay from someone on one side of the issue followed by someone from the other side of the issue. Sometimes there are three essays on a topic, if I remember correctly, but generally there are just two. Fairly interesting, not the worst textbook I’ve had by far.
