Every oil painter should have this book as a base reference in their library. It covers essentials for plein air painters, and Morgan Samuel Price is an expert with 40+ years of plein air teaching and painting experience. This was a great find for the money on Amazon.
A wonderful artist who shares her methods in creating masterful paintings.
… her work so I was eager to see what great tips she had
Just started getting into this book – I adore her work so I was eager to see what great tips she had. So far I’m very pleased!
Step by step book that is easy to follow along with.

I am new and retired and wanted to do the Tony Bennett thing. “It’s all about the light.” I don’t know how to set up a palette and it was suggested I start out slow–with a basic palette.

This is one of the rare books of Deep South landscapes, and since I am from Baton Rouge it is an invaluable resource for me. Morgan Price is an excellent teacher, and as in her workshops (I attended two) and her DVDs, explains as she paints. If I had not been blessed with more grandchildren than time to paint, my ambition was to be an artist like Morgan. The challenge of doing an outdoor painting in three hours, ready-to-hang, is perfect for the ADHD artist, and Morgan is the teacher for that! Thanks, Morgan, for those really fun years of outdoor painting and for the incredible stories you told us as you worked your magic. When the nine (so far) grandkids get to be teens, I’m hoping you are still teaching, I’m signing up!
