An Aria of Terror from the Maestro of Horror – DARIO ARGENTO

When a young opera singer takes over the leading role in an avant-garde presentation of Verdi's Macbeth, she triggers the madness of a crazed fan who repeatedly forces the diva to watch the brutal murders of her friends. Will the woman's recurring nightmare hold the key to the identity of this psychopath or does an even more horrific evil lay waiting in the wings?

The legendary Dario Argento (DEEP RED, SUSPIRIA) co-wrote and directed this savagely stunning thriller featuring some of the most shocking sequences of the maestro's entire career. Previously available in the U.S. only in heavily edited form, this horror classic has now been restored from original Italian vault materials and is presented uncut, uncensored and loaded with Extras.

Great late 1980s Argento…

Opera is a great Argento film. Filled with fantastic camera work, and crazy gory death scenes. Also an over the top 80s metal soundtrack. Great premise of forcing the main character (Betty) to watch the horrific killings. Only negative is run time is a little long, and English dubbing isn’t the greatest. Definite recommend though.

I’m almost at a loss for words… Like others, I didn’t think anything could top “Suspiria” but in my opinion, this one does. The two-disc (DVD and soundtrack CD) is another wonderful Anchor Bay package.

As usual great job

I can safely say I watch all his movies, this one is a little bit too long. Could be 30 mins shorter.

A film with little plot, but brilliantly told. Young directors of horror should watch this film to learn that you don’t need overt gore to make a good terrifying film. Ending was weak though and it should have stopped with the scene in the Opera house.
