PAINting: Autumn Landscape

As with my first landscape, I am…pleased with how this one turned out. The paint and I still have yet to learn each other’s languages, but I think we’re getting closer to an understanding.

I “groped” the paint again. Although, I believe I managed to keep my brush work a bit lighter this time around…just not as light as I was aiming for. Going to try for that “tickle” again in the next painting.

Also, I notice that my darks tend to disappear – that I’m too liberal with my midtones and lights – and I spend a lot of time re-painting the darks over the midtones. Along with the “tickle,” I’m going to try to keep the darks alive in the next painting and drop in the values in only a couple of passes (as opposed to the five or seven or nine passes I have been doing).
