I bought this book old. However books like this are precious assets to a personal library, clearly depicting what things a student who wants to understand and do better portrait drawing should do. Lot of books shares the thoughts in a subtle way rather than live examples. I am thankful to the author to depict things in such a great way.

The book is a big help to an artist wanting to learn to do portraits. I only wish it described actual colors used, but overall, any information from an artist of Mr. Kinstler’s caliber is terrific.

This is by far the best book. He takes the time to explain his set up, a bit about his history (interesting) and how he approaches Portraiture. A must have for any artist wanting to paint portraits.

this is alovely book. lots of portraits. quite interesting.Books of this type very rarely give away any secrets though.i am always pleased to see other artists work. i just wish they would have more detail.

Got to see the painting at the Norman Rockwell Musuem . What an artist ,what painting and what colors . Each painting had a life to them . That i would like to give it a try

Very informative. I love the portrait examples and step intructions. He explains stuff simply and it is easy to follow. I love his style of painting.
