I liked this book. Coupled with Syd Field’s Screenwriter’s Workbook, I managed to write a first draft of a screenplay. I’ve never been able to complete a play or screenplay before reading these books! This book gives you the background of screenplays and writing, plus his theory of what makes a good Hollywood screenplay. The workbook gives you a step by step process of writing one.

Amazing Book (at least the first two thirds of it)

The material is good, but I don’t really get how he said it. It’snow his language’s too hard to understand, it’s English, everyone can understand it. But, he explained everything in a complex way, a bit hard to understand. Also, you have to watch some American classic films before reading this, films like Chinatown (1974), Cold Mountain, Rushmore, Thelma & Louis, and much more, to understand what he’s saying.
