Best book on directing other than her other one!

This book is an extraordinary, essential tutorial and rumination on the philosophy and practice of directing film actors. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it essentially repeats the same thing her previous book (Directing Actors) said, albeit in new ways and with new depth. Read “Directing Actors” first, then I won’t have to convince you to buy this one. You will know that every word from Judith Weston is solid gold, and not to be missed. Highly recommended, even if you have already read Directing Actors, as she really does go further and deeper here and presents a number of new insights and techniques that you won’t want to miss.

This completely changed my direction style for the better. For the first time I’m more proud of the actor’s performances than I am of the cinematography. Thank you, Judith Weston!

I got this book as required reading for my one year acting for film conservatory I had to do a few papers on it and the thing I like the most about this book is the point of view of the director due to this I’m able to collaborate with them in a more productive way.
A Director must haves!
Just like any story teller is not worthwhile without an imagination, so is a director without proper communication with his actors. This book is gives you the significance, clarity and the paths in communicating with your actors.

Full of useful experience. A good companion to the previous book. Nine more words required. Five more words required. Word.

Very useful book, anyone who wants to be a successful director should have it. Not only for directors, but for writers too. It makes you bring the best of your actors, but also the best of your characters.
Brilliant & Insightful

I cannot recommend this book enough. Judith is brilliant. I am a working director, and use her techniques on a regular basis. Both this book, and “Directing Actors” should be read and studied by anyone who calls themselves a director. Her books are to directing what Robert McKee’s “Story” is to screenwriting.
This book teaches how to direct. Something they don’t teach at school. Great book
Even more awesome than Directing Actors
Yep, it’s true. Judith’s second book is even MORE awesome than her already awesome book “Directing Actors”. It opened up a whole new level of directing skills, tools, techniques and understand for me. I can’t recommend her books or her classes enough.
