The Moonbeam Award Gold Medal Winner in the religion category, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the center of the Story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David—every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle—the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation—and at the center of their Story too.
Wow! Comes with a DVD and the whole amazing children’s Bible on CD. Amazing for ages 4-104. Seriously. If you are investigating the Christian faith, this is a great place to start. If you have walked with Jesus for 30 years, this Bible will provide new insight as well – even for pastors! Theologically sound, don’t worry (that’s my degree). Drawback is that CDs do not have chimes when to turn page – so better for reading along than children who cannot read.

When I kept hearing that this was the best children’s Bible to get–from a variety of different sources that didn’t have any connections to each other–I took notice and put it on my Amazon wish list. I was thrilled to get a copy for my birthday a couple of years ago. That night, I settled down to read it to my young children, and the very first chapter was so beautifully written that I immediately got choked up and couldn’t finish reading! My husband took over the reading, and I became an avid listener. We’ve read this children’s Bible from cover to cover at least twice, and we’ve jumped around to certain stories a few times also. It is definitely my favorite of all the toddler/pre-school Bibles that we’ve read (my kids are now 6 and almost 5). The writing is so lovely that I imagine we’ll continue to re-read it as a family over many years. My husband and I enjoyed it just as much as our children did. I’ve also pulled out a few quotes from this Bible to send to adult friends who were going through tough times–so the fact that it speaks to children and adults alike speaks volumes about this author’s talent. I can’t recommend this Bible enough! We have a hard copy as well as a copy on Kindle (we save that one for “waiting room” moments)!
Beautifully written for all ages.

I love this Bible. Every story really does whisper His name. It is beautifully written in language that is clear and understandable for young children. I love that is even young children can learn that the Bible is not just a collection of independent stories, as most Story Bibles present, but that the Bible really is just one coherent story. They really enjoy it are so engaged. At the end of each story we have something to discuss, “What does this story teach us about God, or how does this teach us about Jesus”.
THE best story book Bible you’ll ever find!

I bought this and started reading it to my oldest son when he was three years old, and it was his favorite bedtime activity for a couple years, to settle in and listen to stories of Daniel and the lion’s den, David and Goliath, or Jonah and the fish. Every story relates to Yeshua/Jesus in some way, as the title implies, and the characterization, through the dialog written for each Bible character, is very well done. You can hear the fear and nervousness in Jonah’s words, and the youthful confidence and faith exhibited by David when facing Goliath, and the love and confidence that Yeshua/Jesus exuded whenever he spoke.
gorgeous must own for families

This book is the perfect tool for teaching your children about the word of God and about grace. It is humble in wording, and denounces the facade that individuals like Noah and Abraham are heroes. Instead, it demonstrates how these men (and women) needed God, just like the rest of us. I actually get choked up reading this. The wording is such that children grasp the concept and adults will be moved by the poetic simplicity of the Word. The illustrations are lush and vibrant with a style that captivates the imagination and little eyes, it’s truly beautiful to look at. Some have mentioned that it’s not word for word to the bible, but I see this as functioning similar to a devotion in which the message is clear and relevant to the original scripture but in a way that of communicates complicated ideas in a simple way.

We purchased The Jesus Storybook Bible as a baptism gift for our 2 year old God-child after it was recommended by a friend. This is hands-down the sweetest chiidren’s Bible I have ever laid hands on. My own son has another popular “first Bible” with retellings of some key stories from the OT & NT, but this Jesus Storybook Bible is sooooo much better! The stories are retold beautifully and with more depth, and the artwork is superb. (I also really appreciate that the people represented in these images are not Caucasian–all of our other children’s Bibles show blond haired, blue eyed prophets.) I will definitely be buying another copy for my son, and will probably buy this several times over in the future for other children in our lives.
If we could only have one book in our child’s room, this would be it!

We love this book in our house! My son, a 5-year-old pre-reader will page through and look at the pictures. He, along with our 3-year-old, love to guess the foreshadowing references at the end of the story (the answer is always Jesus, which is a lovely metaphor!). And I love reading this to them. I appreciate how the author ties Jesus in to every story–not that I don’t love the Old Testament, but the stories become a little “familiar” so I love re-reading them with “Jesus goggles.” The author paraphrases stories but I feel it is consistent with the message of Scripture. Just a heads up, the story of the tower of Babel illustrates the repercussions of people not being able to understand each other, including throwing “a punch in the nose” (because they misunderstood). This has become a common part my boys’ vocabulary, and they want to read this story all the time because they find it hilarious. So…I guess it hasn’t caused that much duress in our life but I might have skipped that chapter had I known 🙂 Just in case you have boys like mine.
Wonderful daily Bible source for kids and adults that love them!

Reading this book every night with my kids and I’m absolutely in love with the book. There have been many resources that do such a poor job of relaying the meaning and message of the stories of the Bible that I have grown frustrated and set them aside rather than inadequately teaching my kids erroneously. This book isn’t like that. The stories are offered with glowing narration, and ultimately it all points back to God’s great rescue plan for humanity through Jesus Christ. What a comfort to be able to present the story of Scripture continuously coupled with the Gospel narrative in such a way that my kids are rapt with attention each night. I’m sincerely thankful for this book for my household!
