One of several options to read Lincoln

This is an inexpensive way to research what Lincoln said on different topics throughout his career. Much cheaper than the classic 1953 Collected Works. However, the Collected Works is online for free at the University of Michigan, where it can be downloaded or searched online..
The Real Lincoln of Words, learn for yourself without the filters of "historians".

There are two lincolns, the lincoln of the writtings of lincoln and then there is the lincoln of action, or what he actually did.
Writings Of A Great Man
What better way to get insight into an author’s mind and heart than to read everything he wrote? Lincoln’s beliefs and value system are evident on every page. We should be thankful that “Honest Abe” really WAS honest in word and deed his whole life, and God gave him a towering intellect to go with a compassionate heart. His mind was highly logical and incisive, cutting to and explaining the essence of sometimes complicated issues, but always guided by a heart where mercy reigned. I truly believe he was our greatest President, having a tougher job than Washington in saving the Union and abolishing slavery. Lincoln was a man worth knowing.

You have to be a bit nutty about Abraham Lincoln in order to read this because it is full of the minutiae of his life as president. However, the Douglas speeches and beyond give a very good insight into what motivated his views and actions in the Civil War and wonderfully capture the singlemindedness of purpose which kept him going during those 4 awful years. If you like Lincoln, you will love this compendium – and you surely can’t beat the price.

I loved the opportunity to read the writings of Lincoln from the mundane to the most famous speeches that he wrote.
A collection of inestimable value and unsurpassed eloquence
To read these papers is to receive an education in history, politics, friendship, diplomacy, military affairs, finance, government, and foreign policy. But most of all it is to sit in wonder at Lincoln’s massive powers of reasoning, his humility, and his unsurpassed eloquence.
A Very Useful Book

I recently took some courses on President Lincoln and his speeches and writings. Rather than have to carry several large books, I was able to find all of his writings in this volume. Additionally, the ability to highlight and make notes in my Kindle was a definite plus. Highly recommend this for all Lincoln scholars.
Some very interesting words.
I read through this with at first, an uninterested zeal. But as I continued, it became more and more important. Some of the letters written at that time, about a separated country, could now be spoken of today. We need to again remember, we are all one great nation. And show unity for our future. As you read these documents, think of some of them as pertaining to our current situations in America today!
