There is really only one way to describe Paine, a genius, and definitely a man far beyond even those today. You truly do yourself a disfavor by not reading and absorbing his works.

This series should be required reading for every American, and should be included in the CORE courses.

Paine died in France in obscurity and disgrace — abandoned by the mainstream American revolutionaries that used his stirring propaganda to rouse Americans to fight against the Crown. His writings were adjudged too radical at the time (and are probably too radical today for many), and he was personally a difficult person, and certainly not from the upper classes from which the American revolution drew most of its most famous leaders. Still, his words are stirring today and are a fine example of how to write persuasively.

Historically fascinating
