So I’ve been following along with Len Hand’s tutorials on youtube, and I really like how he explains things. You can’t mention painting tutorials without someone saying ‘Bob Ross’ (even my mom, when I told her about this guy, she was like, so he must’ve studied under Bob Ross huh?) C’mon, Ross, while awesome, isn’t/wasn’t the only kick ass painter out there. Anyway, I rather like his tutorials because he explains not just what he’s doing, “putting a tree here” but HOW. How to hold the brush, how to apply the paint, and why placing the tree here versus there works.
So here’s today’s experiments based on Lesson One:
Tis a tree. In a desolate field…thing. (I painted it under the other day’s book shelf.)
And then I tried a house with a palette knife. (Which are hard to use and EVIL.)
I hated how it looked at first but now I’m thinking maybe tomorrow I’ll try and merge the two.
