I bought a number of workbooks from several series for my children to work with over the summer. DK workbooks (which were inferior in every way and I returned all 4), the Scholastic Success series (which are really intended for in-school supplementation but were okay for use over the summer), and the Spectrum series. The Spectrum series were superior in every way to the other workbooks and I will order from this series again next summer.

Very well organized and easy to follow for kids.

Recently I bought several of Spectrum Math, Language Art, and Writing books for my son, so I will write one review and post it for all of them.

I purchased this workbook for my 9 year old that I homeschool. He struggles with his writing and I have been using this to get him caught up and eventually ahead of where he needs to be. This has been great practice writing assignments for him.

Excellent book for use it with your 4th Grader!

This is a good book for getting into the mechanics- whys and hows of good writing. However, the skills covered and the importance of developing these skills and the level presented in this book is best used at 4th grade level. In addition most states do separate writing testing in 4th grade. I am using for my 5th grader (starting beginning of 5th grade) because he needs to improve his writing skills. Excellent book for 4th graders

I use it as a supplemental material in my Writing class. I would recommend this book as additional writing material for a classroom.

Interesting, I just tried this out with my Fifth graders and it gave them a lot to think about as they wrote. It really challenged them and it was not difficult to understand. I would like to try the others in the series.
