I don’t like to purchase books that you can’t look inside of before buying, but I took a chance on this book, and am so glad I did. I love the ideas! It is set up to use the gradual release of responsibility along with the writing instruction, and has some excellent ideas that will really help make sure the Common Core writing standards are being met. Very good purchase!

These are fantastic books for struggling writers. I love that each lesson guides students clearly through the steps of the writing process and helps them structure their writing. I and several of my colleagues are using these books with ELs grades 4-7 and they have definitely helped these students improve their writing skills. The pages are also not too “childish” in appearance to appeal to middle school writers.

A great book of practice writing skills

I haven’t used it yet in the classroom. It is easy to follow the lessons and it seems like students will learn the different writing formats and then can apply to other writings within the school year.
