This is a fantastic book for writing a dissertation. While the subject matter doesn’t quite match the syllabus in my course, it does have most of the material in it. Let’s face it, a course on the methodology of writing a dissertation is bo-o-o-o-o-o-oring, but at leaast there are some good books out there on the subject. This is one of them, and the price is fantastic. I recommend this book highly for anyone working on a dissertation. I think it’s a bit beyond the master’s level when one considers some of the work that goes into a dissertation. My master’s thesis was a big, long, well thought out and highly technical piece of work, but I don’t think that one book can really, fairly cover both a thesis and a dissertation. It’s got to lean more in one direction or the other, and I think that this book leans in the direction of writing a dissertation more than a thesis. It certainly would not hurt to own this book if one is writing a master’s thesis, but I do believe it’s more for the dissertation writer than the thesis writer. Just my opinion, but I’m also a writer and a high school English teacher as well as a therapist, and all my different “hats” agree that this leans heavily in the direction of the person working on a PhD, not an MA, or MS. Great book!

I give a research class. I have lots and lots of books in two languages. This book is really helpful and contains information from Cresswell, for example. I am eliminating some of my other authors and substituting this book.

I absolutely love this book! The authors provide details that your dissertation committee and/or faculty chair may not tell you as you go through the dissertation process. The book is a very easy read and contains lots of helpful tips. If you plan to write a thesis or dissertation, order this book!!!

This book is amazingly helpful. It’s simplistic, step-by-step guide makes the “monster” of the dissertation seem like a feasible task. I am using this book every step of the way!

I can’t compare it to other books on the same subject, but it is very helpful. I do understand the purpose of a dissertation and how to get started. It’s loaded with resources of where to go to find topics, journals, articles, studies. ETC. Thanks

Gives you the simple truth about living the graduate student life.

I wish I would of had this book last year when I was writing my proposal. Would of saved me some time of re-writing and dealing with politics of a graduate student.
